Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche V, Huarmey Valley, ca. 500 CE. Finely woven via the slit tapestry technique, a fringed textile featuring a panel depicting a pair of warriors standing in composite profile, wearing elaborate headdresses, and holding large staffs, one in each hand - all in shades of red, ochre, blue, and brown - surrounded by a border of concentric ovoid motifs in red and brown on an ochre ground. Beautifully framed - floating on a pale blue-green fabric matt and set in a wooden frame under glass. Size: 3.375" L x 7.75" W (8.6 cm x 19.7 cm); 7.375" L x 11.875" W (18.7 cm x 30.2 cm) in frame
