Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican/Lambayeque culture, ca. 750 to 1370 CE. A lovely ceremonial drinking vessel, known as a kero, formed from a thinly-hammered copper sheet and shaped around a conical mold. The base is slightly convex yet still stable and gradually expands upwards towards the flared rim with a smooth lip. Scattered traces of silvering are visible across the exterior, though most of the walls exhibit the stunning golden-brown copper color beneath. Layers of green patina have formed within the interior. Size: 4.2" W x 6.2" H (10.7 cm x 15.7 cm).
