Description:

Native American, Alaska, Inuit, Aleutian, or Punuk peoples, Pre-Contact period, ca. 100 to 1000 CE. A fine gathering of ten tools formed from either wood, whale bone, walrus bone, or the tooth of a polar bear. First is a curved wooden stick wound with thin thread on one end. Second is a large polar bear tooth, perhaps a memento or a scraper. Next are two bone knives with thick handles. A lightly-curved bone rod has a small pin on one end and a flattened scraper on the other. A curved bone spatula has incised zigzags along the lateral peripheries. A slender bone spool has two T-shaped terminals. Another bone scraper has an elongated profile and a rounded handle. Next is a thick bone rod with one forked end, and last is a bulbous bone spool with tapered ends. Size of largest (wooden stick): 11.75" L (29.8 cm).
