Description:

Native American / First Nations, Northern United States to Canada, Inuit, ca. 15th to 19th century CE. A fine fishing implement carved from the bone of a whale or ungulate in a slender petaloid form to resemble a fish. Attractive in its simplicity, this lure has two cavities drilled into the head as eyes, and perhaps they were once inlaid with stones to weight the lure. The bone is pierced through the head and tail tip to attach to a line. The smooth and lustrous patina makes this a very pretty and alluring piece! Size: 3" L x .75" W (7.6 cm x 1.9 cm); 2.5" H (6.4 cm) on included custom stand.
