Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, Tlingit / Haida, or Inuit / Aleut people, Pre-Contact, ca. 12th to 18th century CE. A pair of hand carved fishing and hunting tools: a marine mammal bone fishing hook and walrus ivory harpoon head, both have barbed tips for securing prey. The long slender ivory point has a stem for hafting to a pole as a spear or harpoon, the pointed tip with a long barb to hold the fish in place. The hook has a hole pierced through the end for suspension on a fishing line and the shank has several barbs that projects out sharply from the sides. Size: 4" L x 0.375" W (10.2 cm x 1 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.
