Native American, North America, Southwestern United States, Colorado or New Mexico, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), Mesa Verde type, ca. 1100 to 1300 CE. A sizable, apple-shaped pottery jar formed via the meticulous Puebloan coil-and-scrape technique. The white-ground exterior is decorated with a series of black-painted linear motifs including stripe-filled bands and spiraling step tendrils. Size: 7" Diameter x 6.5" H (17.8 cm x 16.5 cm)

Provenance: Private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000.
