Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Chaco Canyon type, ca. 1150 to 1250 CE. A splendid and quite sizable pottery scoop bowl featuring a round yet stable base and thin walls that rise to a curved rim which is pinched at one side for easy scooping and pouring. Enveloped in white slip, the interior of the bowl boasts elaborate, black-painted decoration of interlocking sawtooth and spiral motifs as well as striated and geometric designs. Though the rim is lined in black, the exterior is completely white save for 2 L-shaped striations that extend down from the rim. Size: 12.6" L x 10.1" W x 6" H (32 cm x 25.7 cm x 15.2 cm)

  • Condition: Professionally repaired with some break lines visible and restoration over others. Abrasions to surface commensurate with age. Otherwise, great presentation with good signs of use. Nice preservation of pigments and decoration.
