Description:

North America, Alaska, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca. 200,000 to 10,000 years ago. A substantial section of a fossilized proboscidean tusk, likely from a woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) or mastodon (Mammut americanum). This impressive specimen displays the classic natural curvature of the tusk, its surface showing the distinctive growth striations and cross-hatched grain pattern that form as dentin mineralizes over millennia. The root end reveals the internal structure, with rich organic patination and a hollow core, while the opposite tip has been rounded off and infilled for stabilization purposes. Size along curve: 23" L x 2.75" W (58.4 cm x 7 cm)
