Native American, Southwestern United States, Colorado or New Mexico, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A fabulous pottery bowl of hemispherical form, presenting thin walls that rise to an annular rim above a deep basin, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Adorned with black on white decoration, the interior of the vessel is meticulously hand-painted a geometric motif of a rectangle with a dotted crisscross inside and triangles extending from each corner, while the interior rim boasts a horizontally striated pattern of rectangular and square designs. Alternatively, the exterior of the dish is enveloped in creamy white slip with no decoration. Size: 9.2" Diameter x 5.5" H (23.4 cm x 14 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated.

- Condition: One side repaired from several pieces with 1 small area of fill and minor restoration to rim. Some light restoration and repainting over a few break lines, but others visible. Chip to rim. Expected nicks and abrasions throughout, commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining detail. TL holes to base and near rim.
