Native America, Central North America, Ohio, Tuscarawas County, Glacial Kame / early Adena peoples, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A lovely gorget of an ovoid form with a pair of drilled holes, hand-carved from mottled green-brown slate with swirling black inclusions. The gorget has rounded tips, slightly convex faces, and rolled peripheries which create a minimalist yet elegant accessory. Size: 5.8" L x 1.4" W (14.7 cm x 3.6 cm).

Provenance: ex-old private New England, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s
