Ancient Near East, Islamic, ca. 8th to 12th century CE. A miniature glass vessel comprised of opaque deep aubergine and wine red glass - the body of an inverted piriform shape with diagonal, curvilinear ribs accentuating is curvaceous form, a ringed rim, and thick trail handles joining rim to shoulder - all upon a flat disc foot. A lovely ancient glass vessel presenting an elegant form, wonderful artistry, strong technique, and a beautiful color scheme that has been kissed by silvery and rainbow iridescence. Size: 2.5" H (6.4 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-Stephen Shalom collection, New York, USA, acquired in the 1970s
