Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Proto-Nazca, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A beautiful textile belt comprised of tightly-woven natural fibers in hues of gold, crimson, sapphire, umber, and coffee. The belt features a repeating stepped motif throughout the length of both sides, with a corded terminal on either end. While stretched out the belt would be quite long, the textile itself is arranged in a zigzag pattern in order for a more appealing presentation. Mounted on fabric backing. Size (textile): 14.25" L x 1.25" W (36.2 cm x 3.2 cm); size (backing): 34.75" L x 33.5" W (88.3 cm x 85.1 cm).
