Description:

Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. late 6th to early 5th century BCE. A mold-formed terracotta protome of a goddess, perhaps Demeter, with exquisite detailing on the lips, eyes, brows, nose, and wavy coiffure. Remains of white slip indicate just how elaborately this was decorated at one time. Size: 2" L x 3.75" W x 4.875" H (5.1 cm x 9.5 cm x 12.4 cm); 7.25" H (18.4 cm) on included custom stand.
