**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Egypt, Second Intermediate Period, 14th to 17th Dynasty, ca. 1725 to 1550 BCE. A hand-built buffware pottery female ushabti standing in mummiform with arms crossed atop the chest just below a pair of petite breasts. The teardrop face is framed by lengthy wig lappets, and faint remains of red pigment are visible across them. Physical gender designations for ushabti figures like genitalia is rather uncommon, so this is an exceedingly rare example! Size: 1.43" L x 1.46" W x 5.29" H (3.6 cm x 3.7 cm x 13.4 cm)

Exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 1986 to 1991; in the University of Arizona Museum of Art, October 1993 to December 1993; and in the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA), California State University, San Bernardino from 1996 to 2023.
