Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 500 to 700 CE. A large buff-brown pottery conch shell decorated with an openwork design consisting of three openwork roundels surrounded with an openwork geometric pattern. Some remaining ochre and white surface pigment. A nice example. Size: 9.5" L (24.1 cm).
