Native American, Southwestern United States, Santo Domingo & Hopi Pueblo, ca. early to mid-20th century CE; Southeastern or Midwestern United States, Mississippian/Caddo culture, ca. 1400 to 1700 CE. This group comprises seven pottery pieces, six originating from the Southwest and one from the Mississippian culture of the Southeast. The collection includes a Hopi Sikyatki Revival-style bowl, featuring a yellow buff hue, and another Hopi pot slipped in a red hue adorned with a band of black and white geometric motifs across the shoulder. From the Santo Domingo Pueblo, there is a bowl with a floral motif in the center basin, a small pot with a handle, and a pot with a scalloped rim. The largest vessel, a handled basket, is attributed to the Santa Clara Pueblo. The outlier in the group is an ancient grayware Mississippian pot, notable for its squat body, short neck spout, and rounded, stable base. - Condition: Mississippian jar has a chip to the rim and hairline fissure across the lower body, but otherwise good condition. The Southwest pottery are vintage conditions, with discoloration and stains to surfaces. Large handled pot has fading and losses to pigments, surface abrasions and chip to surface layer. Scalloped rim pot has modern paint splatter on the surface. Large abrasions and gouge to the interior basin of flower bowl. None are signed.
