Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Casas Grandes (Paquime) culture, ca. 1280 to 1450 CE. A polychrome effigy bowl rendered in the form of a hybridized bird and ungulate creature. The vessel is supported by four short conical legs and features a square-rimmed bowl rising from the animal's back. The stylized head presents perked ears, bulging eyes, and a pronounced snout with an open mouth. Two pairs of curved wings and tail extend from the sides of the body. Effigy vessels like this were often used in ceremonial or funerary contexts and are prized for their imaginative forms and vibrant decoration. Size: 5" L x 4" W x 3.5" H (12.7 cm x 10.2 cm x 8.9 cm)
