Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, probably 12th Dynasty (XII Dynasty), ca. 1991 to 1802 BCE. An impressively large, cast bronze battle axe, of a form identified by Flinders Petrie as from the 12th Dynasty. The upper edge of the blade has a slight lip, but otherwise the weapon is flat and broad, with a rectangular blade sharpened on one side and a long, slightly curved tang. During this time period, Egypt was expansive, fighting in numerous campaigns in Nubia and the Levant. Size: 5.5" W x 15" H (14 cm x 38.1 cm); 17.25" H (43.8 cm) on included custom stand.
