Lot 2B
Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 12th Dynasty, ca. 1991 to 1802 BCE. A hand-carved wooden arm and grasping hand from a larger statue, with one end terminating in a tenon joint. Fine details of the fingers and the overall shape reveal this to be a naturalistic style, presumably based on a real model. There are the remains of a light pigment still on the wood. Comes with custom stand. Size: 14" L x 4" W (35.6 cm x 10.2 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Swiss collection acquired in Egypt in 1967
