Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. A rare, turquoise-glazed faience amulet depicting the dwarf god Pataikos presenting nude on the obverse and with an enormous pair of feathery wings on the verso that symbolize his ability to swiftly protect his followers. To his sides are the sister goddesses Isis and Nephthys while atop each of Pataikos' shoulders is a petite ba bird that symbolizes half of the soul; a petite scarab is present atop his head. Size: 0.6" L x 0.8" W x 1.9" H (1.5 cm x 2 cm x 4.8 cm)
