Ancient Egypt, Late Period, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A beautiful amulet, cast in silver, depicting a seated ram with a small loop on the back for suspension. The ram is symbolic of Khnum, one of the oldest Egyptian deities, believed to be the source of the Nile River and thus the creator who molded human bodies and other deities from the rich silt and clay along the river's banks. Size: 0.55" W x 0.45" H (1.4 cm x 1.1 cm); 3.9 grams
