Description:

Egypt, New Kingdom Period, 18th Dynasty, reign of Thutmosis III, ca. 1479 to 1425 BCE. A miniature fish-form scaraboid, carved from a lightweight steatite and coated in a blue-green glaze. The topside depicts classic bolti fish details such as stylized scales, fins, and a broad tail. The underside depicts three distinct hieroglyphs which comprise the cartouche for Pharaoh Thutmose III (sometimes Thutmosis or Tuthmosis III, or Thothmes in older texts, meaning "Thoth is born"). Laterally perforated to use as a pendant. Size: 0.33" L (0.8 cm).
