Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Inca, ca. 1400 to 1550 CE. Since the ancient Inca farmers had no domesticated animals that were suitable for agricultural work, they relied on manual tools like this Chalki Taklla, a human-powered foot plough, this one with curved elements and a point at the end, the base notched for attachment to a shaft. A rare find, as it is unusual for wooden implements to survive the tests of time except in very dry climates. Size: 5.75" L x 3.75" W (14.6 cm x 9.5 cm)

Provenance: Ex- Private Colorado Springs, CO collection; ex-private Washington D.C. collection; ex-Babriel Vandervort, Ancient Resources, Montrose, CA.
