Description:

North America, Western United States, Late Cretaceous Period, ca. 68 to 66 million years ago. A remarkable fossilized brow horn from a juvenile Triceratops horridus, one of the most iconic dinosaurs of the Late Cretaceous. This well-preserved horn displays the classic conical shape characteristic of the species, tapering to a gentle point with finely preserved surface texture and visible growth striations. While the exact find site is unknown, the specimen likely originates from the fossil-rich deposits of the Western Interior - including the Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana - where Triceratops remains are most frequently discovered. This juvenile horn offers a rare glimpse into the early development of these massive herbivores, whose adult horns could grow to impressive lengths. A highly desirable and displayable specimen for collectors of natural history, paleontology, and prehistoric life. Size: 10.5" L x 4" W (26.7 cm x 10.2 cm

Provenance: private Dayton, Maryland, USA collection, collected 1990s to 2000s

  • Condition: Tip has an old loss, likely post-mortem breakage. Overall very good condition for its age and type. The horn exhibits well-preserved surface texture with clear growth striations and natural fossilization features throughout. Minor surface weathering and erosion are present, consistent with natural burial and mineralization processes over millions of years.
