Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A rare example of a miniature amphoriskos carved from semi-translucent alabaster. The vessel exhibits an inverted piriform body, a cylindrical neck, and a pair of lug handles on the shoulder. Amphoriskoi like this held scented oils or other perfumes, typically in a woman's toilette. Size: 1.39" L x 1.38" W x 2.39" H (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm x 6.1 cm); 2.61" H (6.6 cm) on included custom stand.
