Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Mixtec culture, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A fascinating ring made of copper sheet with a wide band and a large anthropomorphic face. The face is generally flat aside from a prominent, high relief nose. Atop the head and where the ears would be are large spirals, representing earrings and either a dramatic coiffure or headdress. Size: 0.75" W x 1.1" H (1.9 cm x 2.8 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
