Description:

Pre-Columbian, South America, Colombia, Narino, ca. 1400 to 1500 CE. A large, hand built, polychrome pottery aryballos, the walls beautifully finished with elaborate negative-resist geometric decoration in hues of red and black presenting a complex array of striated bands, some wrapping around the base of the neck and down the body - accentuating the curves of the vessel's form - others that criss cross and interweave with one another. The form with its globular body, cylindrical neck, flared rim, and trio of applied loop handles presents very strong Inca influences. Size: 8" in diameter x 9.5" H (20.3 cm x 24.1 cm)
