Description:

North America, Late Cretaceous period, ca. 68 to 66 million years ago. A substantial fragment of a Triceratops frill plate, once part of the broad bony shield that extended from the back of the skull of this iconic horned dinosaur. This specimen displays the dense, textured surface typical of ceratopsian cranial material, with weathered bone structure visible along several planes. The fossil is preserved in shades of dark brown and gray, its surface showing natural mineralization from eons of burial. Mounted on a custom wooden base with metal support for display, this piece represents not only an impressive remnant of one of prehistory's most recognizable dinosaurs but also a striking natural history specimen in its own right. Size: 8.5" L x 1.5" W x 8" H (21.6 cm x 3.8 cm x 20.3 cm); 11" H (27.9 cm) on included custom stand.
