Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A striking necklace that seamlessly blends ancient and modern craftsmanship, featuring an ancient Roman bronze coin set in a custom 17 karat gold bezel. Likely a follis coin probably from the Tetrarchy and early Constantinian period, the obverse presents the profile of a Roman emperor with laurel wreath. The reverse with a standing figure - probably Genius standing left, wearing modius and chlamys over his left shoulder, holding patera and cornucopia. The pendant is suspended from a strand of contemporary round rutilated quartz beads in semi translucent shades of clear, rose, black, and mossy green. The soft hues and natural inclusions of the quartz echo ancient aesthetics while lending a luxurious polish. Finished with a modern 14K gold oval box clasp for secure wear. Size of strand: 18" L (45.7 cm); coin pendant: 1" Diameter (2.5 cm); gold quality: 58% to 72% (equivalent to 14K to 17K+); weight: 50 grams
