Eastern Mediterranean to Ancient Middle East. Ca. 300 - 500 A.D. Three different black pottery examples. Including a miniature amphora bottle, decorated on both sides in relief depicting a spread winged eagle, clutching arrows with his feet, rayed shoulder with a lower band of circular elements. Two lip chips, otherwise intact. Together with a miniature blackware amphora, having a vertical ribbed midsection, upper leaf band and palmettes around the base. Opposing handles on the neck. Intact. Finally, a small blackware bottle having an impressed inscription on both sides, above an impressed row of small square elements. Twin opposing handles at the neck base. Intact. All are nice examples. Size: 2-1/2" to 3-5/8"H.

Provenance: Marshall & Caroline Mount Collection, N.J. From the Robert W. Paterson collection. Exhibited at Brooklyn Museum. Purchased at American Art Galleries sale, Jan. 22 & 23, 1925.
