Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely necklace composed of ancient glass beads restrung with modern spacers and sterling silver clasp. The ancient beads alternate between smaller, brilliant blue beads and larger golden beads. All beads have achieved light iridescence from time, giving them a variable and glittering appearance. Length of strand: 20" L (50.8 cm); size of largest bead: 0.35" W (0.9 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s
