Description:

**Originally Listed At $1200**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. late 3rd to early 5th century CE. A marvelous example of a double unguentarium, free blown from semi-translucent glass of a vibrant turquoise hue, used by women for containing two different types of scented perfumes in their bathrooms. The thick-walled composition is constructed with two cylindrical containers - one wide and one narrow - that are laterally conjoined and share a pinched base with a pontil scar. A trail handle atop the slender tube enables the vessel to be easily held, and several glass trails course around the body to create an enticing presentation. The single handled design of this vessel is not indicative of being defective but is likely a stylistic choice by the artist, perhaps to create a unique look for their brand of artistry or because a customer commissioned such a design. Size: 1.5" W x 3.6" H (3.8 cm x 9.1 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
