Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A beautiful, mold-formed flask comprised of semi-translucent, pale blue-green glass with a flat base, a globular body which tapers to an indented neck base, a tubular neck, and a flared, in-folded rim. The exterior is covered in a faint layer of weathering film, and the interior boasts fiery iridescence of silvery and rainbow hues. A fine example of quality Roman glass-blowing artistry! Size: 2.625" W x 5" H (6.7 cm x 12.7 cm).

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

  • Condition: Small nicks to rim and base, micro-bubbling within glass matrix, with minor abrasions and light weathering film across exterior surfaces, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout, and fabulous silver and rainbow iridescence within interior. Light waxy residue along base.
