Description:

Roman, Sidonian, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A free-blown amphoriskos of elegant form boasting translucent purple and aubergine hues. The piriform vessel exhibits a drop-form foot, a rounded shoulder that tapers to a narrow neck, and flared rim. Sidon was a center of art glass production in ancient times, and this piece exemplifies the fine creations of this region. Size: 1.92" L x 1.85" W x 5.07" H (4.9 cm x 4.7 cm x 12.9 cm); 5.61" H (14.2 cm) on included custom stand.
