Roman Empire, from the Levant, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. Attractive blue-green glass amphoriskos with teardrop shaped lower end and an elegant, inverted teardrop-shaped body, its remarkable form created by twisting and applying indentations when the glass was molten, with corseted shoulders leading to a cylindrical neck, and rising to a rolled rim, all on a dimpled base. In addition to its marvelous teal coloring, areas of aqua and purple iridescence, particularly at the neck and rim, add touches of sparkle to this piece. Custom stand. Size: 2.625" H (6.7 cm); 2.875" H (7.3 cm) on stand.
