Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. An appealing pottery jar featuring an acorn-shaped form with a series of incised, vertical ridges traveling vertically down the bulbous body, ending at the petite, annular foot, all enveloped in a lustrous, olive-green glaze. A slender handle extends up from the rounded shoulder, connecting it to the flared rim, which is decoratively carved with petite dashes. A jar like this would have likely served as a makeup or kohl container. Size: 2.9" Diameter x 2.9" H (7.4 cm x 7.4 cm)

- Condition: Missing one handle. Chipping to rim, raised areas, and foot, all commensurate with age, as well as light surface wear as shown. Nice remaining glaze. Foot is rounded creating unsteadiness, but vessel can still stand independently of support.
