Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Egypt, Romano-Egyptian period, ca. 30 BCE to 300 CE. A naturalistic, hand-carved marble head of a male, possibly a priest, displaying a round visage of minimalist features. Gazing out from recessed eyes with elongated outer edges, his face is comprised of a bulbous nose and pursed lips, all surmounted by a sizable bald dome. Note how the warm red and orange hues of the marble nicely complement the simplicity of the sculpture's form. Size: 1.2" W x 2" H (3 cm x 5.1 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-David F. Hoff estate, Virginia, USA, acquired in the 1990s
