Western Europe, England, Neoclassical, ca. 19th century CE. A pretty jasperware cameo and gold ring of in the classic "Wedgwood blue" color with a seminude Venus and Cupid riding a dolphin. The bezel and band are a pretty rose-gold hue made from 32% gold (equivalent to 7K+) and copper; the ring is wearable! Jasperware or jasper ware is a style of stoneware pottery created by Josiah Wedgewood in the late 18th century. The name stems from the semi-precious stone jasper in reference to the colors these pieces were stained and to encourage sales. Jasperware was widely popular and replicated by other artisans to create cameos.
