Description:

Ancient Near East, Persian Empire, Sasanian period, ca. 224 to 651 CE. A handsome group of three hammered bronze bowls displaying the simple yet refined forms characteristic of Sasanian metalwork. Each vessel features a broad shallow profile with gently flaring sides and a smooth interior basin, surfaces now enriched by natural patination with areas of deep brown and green oxidation. Such utilitarian bronze bowls were widely used in domestic and ceremonial settings throughout the Sasanian world, reflecting the empire's long tradition of skilled metalworking and elegant functional design. Size of largest: 6.6" W x 2.1" H (16.8 cm x 5.3 cm)

  • Condition: Good. One has stable fissures to rim and to basin and all have weathering to surface with slight indentations, nicks, and abrasions, all commensurate with age. Otherwise, all are intact with rich patinas and earthen deposits throughout.
