Central Asia / Near East, Persian Empire / Islamic cultures, ca. 5th to 13th century CE. A petite, mold-formed glass jar featuring a subtly flared rim and squat, rounded body. The exterior is decorated in low relief with a repeating palm frond or feather motif, a design commonly found in early Islamic and Sasanian-period glassware. Such vessels were likely used for storing ointments, cosmetics, or perfumed oils and reflect the high level of artistry in glass production across the medieval Islamic world. Size: 2.5" Diameter x 3" H (6.4 cm x 7.6 cm)
