Andy Katz (American, XX-XXI). "Girl with Grapes" photograph, n.d. Edition 2 of 300. Signed and numbered in pencil below the image. A captivating black and white photograph depicting a Japanese girl holding a large cluster of grapes by the remarkable Andy Katz. This photo is entitled "Girl with Grapes" and is part of Katz's "Japan" series. In addition to its undeniable artistry, Katz's photo invites us to ask questions and imagine the narrative. As Audrey Wells (Director, Under the Tuscan Sun) has stated, "Andy's images are as evocative as cinema. Every photograph tells an eloquent story." A beautiful photo of a generous size set in a museum quality frame under glass by an exceptional photographer. Size of image: 18.25" L x 13.125" W (46.4 cm x 33.3 cm) Size of frame: 29.75" L x 23.75" W (75.6 cm x 60.3 cm)

Andy Katz's introduction to his "Japan" series: "Japan. For most of us the associations flow freely – cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Buddhist temples. Japan of course is all that but there's another Japan that exists alongside the tea ceremonies, bullet trains, Geishas, sushi, anime and koi swimming in a pool in a Zen garden. I was looking for that 'other' Japan. – a country informed by minimalism, by ritual, by a soft clarity in the early morning light. A land poised between the forces of nature and the innovations of technology. A Japan that was the antithesis of my life in the United States. The Japan of Murakami, Mishima, Kawabata, and Kurosawa is all around you. It's present in every tea room with their tatami mats, in the bamboo groves near Kyoto, and in the reserved, mannered and punctual behavior of virtually everyone you meet." (artist's website)

Andy Katz is a Sony Artisan of imagery - one of the original seven photographers who represent Sony's cameras. Katz has traveled across the globe, photographing a wide range of subjects throughout his journeys - "from the deserts of Namibia to the disappearing Jewish World of Eastern Europe to the rolling hills of the California wine country." His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the world as well as his own gallery in Healdsburg, California. In addition, Katz's work has been published in several books and featured on album covers for artists like Dan Fogelberg. Furthermore, Katz has received glowing reviews such as the following from Jonathan Silverman (author of For the World To See - The Life of Margaret Bourke-White), "The photographs of Andy Katz have the visionary quality that distinguishes all great work" and Audrey Wells (director of Under the Tuscan Sun), "Andy's images are as evocative as cinema. Every photograph tells an eloquent story."
