Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period, 18th to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 664 BCE. A hand-built faience scarab, covered in thick blue glaze, that is set within a modern 89.2% silver setting. The insectile features on the topside are finely detailed - with folded elytra, triangular head, and frilled clypeus - while the hieroglyphs on the underside are relatively indiscernible. A modern necklace cord is included so the composition can be displayed on one's neck. Size (scarab): 1" L x 0.68" W (2.5 cm x 1.7 cm); (setting w/ loop): 1.58" L x 0.83" W (4 cm x 2.1 cm); silver quality: 89.2%; total weight: 10.1 grams; (necklace cord): 22" L (55.9 cm)

  • Condition: Wearable as shown and constructed in modern times. Faience scarab is ancient; silver setting and necklace cord are modern. Minor abrasions to topside of scarab, and hieroglyphs are worn and relatively indiscernible, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation and luster to glazed surfaces.
