Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A hand-carved steatite scarab of ovoid form with a suspension hole drilled through the body. The scarab is placed within a 77.7% to 88.1% silver ring setting exhibiting a rope-twist border as well as a slender shank with bifurcated terminals. The bottom of the setting face is stamped with an illegible stamp and a "2" within a trapezoidal border. Size (scarab): 0.73" L x 0.54" W x 0.22" H (1.9 cm x 1.4 cm x 0.6 cm); (ring): 0.89" L x 0.75" W x 1" H (2.3 cm x 1.9 cm x 2.5 cm); silvery quality: 77.7% to 88.1%; total weight: 5.8 grams; US ring size: 5.5
