Description:

**Originally Listed At $700**

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom Period, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1549 to 1076 BCE. A mold-formed faience offering cup of a petite size with a flat base, tapering walls that terminate in a thick rim, and a deep interior cavity, all adorned in brilliant cornflower-blue glaze. Applied black pigment creates a repeating band of frets along the top of the rim as well as three columns of painted hieroglyphic text. Though the text is faded and illegible in some areas, a space along the rightmost column indicates that a cartouche - the encircled name of a pharaoh - was present at one time. Size: 1.7" W x 2" H (4.3 cm x 5.1 cm).
