Description:

South America, Uruguay, millions and millions of years old. An elegant amethyst crystal quartz cluster, this specimen entirely natural, lining the interior of a geode. Its absolutely arresting form resembles that of a blooming flower with mesmerizing, naturally faceted clusters akin to open petals and six flat polished stalactite eyes conjuring images of buds about to bloom. The name of this popular purple gemstone is Greek in origin and means "not drunken." Some scholars suggest that this was due to the belief that Amethyst had the power to stave off the effects of alcohol; however, most believe that the Greeks were probably referring to the near wine-like hue of some amethyst stones. The deep saturated violet and ligher lavender hues of this specimen are absolutely breathtaking. Truly a remarkable work of natural art presented upon a custom, museum-quality stand. Size: 4" L x 8.125" W x 8.75" H (10.2 cm x 20.6 cm x 22.2 cm); 12.125" H (30.8 cm) on stand; Weight: 9.6 lbs (4.4 kg or 3454 g)
