Description:

Sumer, probably Uruk III Period, ca. 3000 to 2300 BCE. This is a beautifully shaped bronze axe head with a prominent socket and a blade that is nearly straight along its top edge and curves dramatically downward on its lower edge to form a rounded end. The socket extends roughly half the width of the blade and is a fine piece of craftsmanship with slight rims at either end. Size: 5.75" L x 1.2" W x 3.45" H (14.6 cm x 3 cm x 8.8 cm)
