Egypt, New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty 18 through 24, ca. 1300 to 700 BCE. One of the finest amulets from ancient Egypt that we have ever handled! Carved of lapis - a stone considered precious in ancient Egypt - in the form of Hathor. Shown front facing with stylized cow ears and field of rosettes. Drilled horizontally for suspension. Size: 1.5" W x 1.9" H (3.8 cm x 4.8 cm)

Hathor was closely related to the sun god, Re and a major goddess of Egyptian religion. She was goddess of music, dance, joy, love, sexuality, and maternal care.
