Description:

**Originally Listed At $250**

United States, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A tall brass artillery shell casing repurposed into a working table lamp, mounted to a circular wooden base and fitted with a brass socket and rotary-style switch at the top. The casing is relief-decorated and inscribed "USS Bridgeport," featuring a dynamic scene of an eagle striking a fleeing German soldier wearing the spiked Pickelhaube helmet. Interestingly, the USS Bridgeport began as a German-built and owned commercial vessel and was seized by the United States in 1917, then refitted as a destroyer tender and put to work near the end of World War I. Size: 5.5" W x 26" H (14 cm x 66 cm)
