Description:

Egypt, Nagada II (Naqada), ca. 3500 to 3200 BCE. This is an ovaloid hand-coiled pottery grain measure with a round base and a flat rim, decorated with an orange-red pigment on its exterior aside from a narrow band around the rim, which is painted black. This pot is made from Nile silt and benefited from the new kilning techniques the Egyptians invented during this period, which have been described by the British Museum from their excavation at Hierakonpolis. This type of vessel was made to hold units of grain. Size: 2.8" W x 9.5" H (7.1 cm x 24.1 cm)
