Tanya M. Fischer (American, XX-XXI) and Michael A. Warnica (American, XX-XXI). "Plate No. 210" mixed media painting on paper, n.d. Signed at lower right and beneath image in lower right. Titled lower left. A dynamic dialogue between precision and spontaneity unfolds in "Plate No. 210", a striking collaboration by Tanya M. Fischer and Michael A. Warnica. This vibrant geometric composition pulses with color and texture - ochre, teal, cerulean, and rust-red fields intersect and balance within a rigorously constructed grid, softened by swirling gestural marks and layered tonal gradations. The surface is richly worked, with visible brushstrokes, impressed textures, and an interplay of sharp angles and circular rhythms that invite both close study and open interpretation. This work is part of an ongoing series developed through a distinctive creative process that the artists have honed since founding Fischer/Warnica Fine Art in 1997. Size of painting: 21" W x 21" H (53.3 cm x 53.3 cm); of frame: 31.25" W x 31.75" H (79.4 cm x 80.6 cm)
Warnica, trained in illustration at the University of Arizona, initiates the composition with strong foundational line-work and design logic. Fischer, whose BFA in painting from Arcadia University informs her intuitive approach, then responds with energetic fields of color and motion. The piece passes between their hands, accumulating layers and meaning, until both agree it is complete.
Their collaborative practice is a balance of structure and freedom, control and improvisation. Where Warnica offers architectural clarity and linear finesse, Fischer brings painterly momentum and chromatic vitality. Together they craft works that are harmonious yet kinetic - echoing not only the give-and-take of their partnership but also the elegant collision of two distinct artistic languages. "Plate No. 210" exemplifies this fusion - a visual conversation distilled into a single, resolved moment.
